1.  What will happen to microFIT applications already submitted?

  • Applications submitted on September 1, 2011, or later, will be subject to the new microFIT Rules and pricing. A transition window for the resubmission of pre-existing applications opened on July 12 and will close on August 10, 2012. Applicants must resubmit their application during the transition window to be eligible for the revised microFIT Program.

  • If applicants update their application when the window is open, they will keep the time stamp and reference number they received when they submitted their original application. This means their application will be reviewed before others that were submitted after theirs.

  • If pre-existing applications have not been resubmitted during the transition window, the pre-existing applications will be terminated and their time stamp will be forfeited. These applicants can submit a new application if they wish.

  • Resubmitted applications will not be permitted to change their Applicant Legal Name.

  • microFIT applications submitted on August 31, 2011, or earlier, have either already been processed or will continue to be processed under the earlier versions of the microFIT Rules. All milestone dates must be met under the current version of their conditional offers, as there will be no extensions.

2.  Why do I have to update my application?

  • There are new eligibility requirements and conditions in the new rules.

  • The application form has also changed and requires you to provide new information that was not requested on the original application that you submitted.

  • You must resubmit your application during the transition window to keep your original time stamp. Applications that are not updated during the transition window will be terminated.

  •  Resubmitted applications will not be permitted to change their Applicant Legal Name.

 3. What new information is required for the application form?

Some of the new information required includes:

  • The birth date of the legal applicant;

  • Parcel Register, Leasing Certificate or other applicable Prescribed Forms per the microFIT Eligible Participant Schedule;

  • Property Identification Number (PIN) for the property on which the proposed project is to be located (this number is found on the Parcel Register);

  • Evidence that the microFIT program land use/zoning restrictions have been met.

4.  Can I change my application when I update it?

  • Yes, you may change any part of your application other than legal name of the applicant, which must stay the same. If you change the applicant legal name on your application, it will be terminated.

  • Once the application has been resubmitted, the information will become locked, and the applicant will not be able to make any further changes to the information on the application.

5.  What if I have further questions?

  • If you have questions, you can send them by email to microFIT@powerauthority.on.ca, or you can call the OPA’s customer service centre at 1-888-387-3403.
